The RF-5800H-V006 is a 20-watt vehicular adapter that
provides the ability to locate the antenna coupler at the
antenna in vehicular and shipboard applications. The system
allows a standard RF-5800H-MP or AN/PRC-150(C) HF/VHF
manpack radio to directly connect to an RF-5382H Antenna
Coupler without an external power amplifier. The RF-5800H-
V006 is designed for applications that require low power, short-
range Beyond-Line-Of-Site (BLOS) communications.
The adapter consists of a shock mount with an attached
distribution unit. The distribution unit provides conditioning of
external power so that the system can be directly connected to
vehicular power. The unit also handles routing of antenna
coupler control signals so that the standard RF-5382H control
cable can be used. Additionally, it provides switched auxiliary
power for external equipment, such as the RF-5980-SA001
tactical speaker. The adapter is designed so that the transceiver
can be quickly removed and converted into a manpack
configuration.
The system is designed for the tactical environment and
meets the same stringent environmental requirements of the
Falcon® II radios and antenna couplers.
